Drafting is like a language, there are rules, just like their are rules in language arts. These rules are standardized so their will be no confusion as to the purpose of the drawing. For a drawing to be understood properly all the rules must be applied, scale, dimensioning technique, views and linetypes must all be applied properly. In your first year of drafting you will learn and apply all the rules of drafting the old fashion way. Drawing by hand, Sliding Parallel edges, triangles, a compass and various other drafting tools. Once all the rules are understood and applied we will move onto the computer. When drafting on the computer all the rules still apply. The computer is simply another dreafting tool, It's faster, more accurate and easier to modify a drawing. There are may other benefits to computer aided drafting (CADD) that can only be accomplished once all the RULES are understood.
